Water Colour Cards

Hi Everyone,

I have been taking the Watercolour for Card Makers over at Online Card Making Classes with Jennifer McGuire, Kristina Werner and company.  If you haven't ever taken their coures, I highly recommend them.  The actual course ends today but you can sign up and take any of the courses at your leisure.

This was the second course and was quite technical, which I loved and they really teach you to step out of your comfort zone!  My first card is a little from Day 1Markers and a little from Day 2 Traditional

Here is my card

I coloured the flower with my peerless watercolours and the background with Fossil distress marker.  All of the paper is GinaK and the rectangle dies are SSS Stiched Rectangles and Mama Elephant Femme Frames.

This beautiful stamp is from GinaK it is from Melanie Muenchinger's Stately Flowers 5 but I was lucky enough to win it!

Next up is a card from Day 2  I really like how the background came out but don't love how I stamped the leaves.  The one cool thing is I learned a new trick, I orginally embossed in black and found it too harsh so re-stamped with versamark and added gold embossing powder on top.  While I don't love the effect on this particlar card, I will definitely do it again.

Card Stock is from Gina K and stamps are GinaK Autumn Wishes Stamp TV Kit...its still available and it's gorgeous!

If you look closely you can see the gold embossing powder
Finally, here is another card from Day 2.  Again, I don't love it, in the end the background is too dark but I had to include it because it was all about fixes.  First off the mason jars and the flowers were not the right perspective.  I originally had stamped the Smaller Paper Smooches flowers by colouring the stamp with distress markers and loved how they came out.  Once I added the bigger flowers from GinaK's Frame and Flowers 1 set it felt much more balanced.  Now remember, I stamped the flowers with no lines but didn't do that with the mason jar and it was way too heavy.  I tried a few things to tone it down inlcuding my Wink of Stella but nothing was working until I used my sakura white jelly roll pen on top and voila!  I loved how that worked and you can still see the bling from the Wink of Stella.  Then I did a big big blooper on the last flower and was devasted but Dawn W for Wplus9 insists you can fix mistakes by repeating them.  Well my bloop, which was beside the dark blue flower was really dark and so fixing it meant creating this dark background.  Last mistake was with the dark background the flowers disappeared so another fix was required!  I outlined all the flowers with the same distress marker,  Gathered Twigs.  Wow, definitely a case of not leaving well enough alone ha ha!  Let me know what you all think ...too dark, I thought about adding in some of the lighter blue to the background but not sure
Here is a close up of the mason jar, I definitely like how it turned out

All card stock is Gina K, Flowers are stamped with distress markers, smaller  stamps Paper Smooches Botanicals 1, Crystal Clear, Gina K Designs Frame and Flowers 1
That's it for me, thanks for stopping by!
